Unprecedented high temperatures for this time of year

Kralendijk 6. 6. 2023, – The extremely high temperatures experienced very early in the year this year are driving increased demand for both water and electricity. They also create a number of problems in business operations. At the moment, the batteries and partly wind production capacity are also out of operation because installations are being installed for the purpose of expanding capacity and the new solar park.

The electricity interruptions on Monday June 5th were due to the above-mentioned developments. In addition, Water – en Energiebedrijf  Bonaire (WEB) experienced two separate disruptions  on the same  cable  of the Lagun service area  and surrounding neighborhoods.

According to the weather forecasts, the high temperatures are expected to continue. More use is being made of both water and electricity. The compressors of the air conditioners have to work harder in order  to get to lower temperatures. This leads to an increased demand, but also to increased costs for the consumer.

That is why WEB gives the tip to take into account the difference in outside and inside temperature when setting the air conditioning temperatures. The tip is not to let the difference exceed 10 degrees between inside and outside temperature.

Also water your plants in the evening so that the plants can absorb water more efficiently. For further tips on how to save, visit our website and facebook page.
