Kralendijk, November 6, 2025 – Water – en Energiebedrijf Bonaire (WEB) informs the community that on the evening of November 5th , 2025, it was necessary to implement “ load shedding” in order to prevent a larger power outage.
This measure was necessary due to a technical malfunction in the production installation of Contour Global, the island’s electricity producer.
By temporarily disconnecting parts of the power grid, known as load shedding a complete blackout on Bonaire was prevented. Thanks to this controlled approach, the power grid remained stable, and a larger outage was avoided.
Contour Global and WEB Bonaire sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to residents and businesses. Both organizations are working closely together to prevent recurrence in the future.
