Kralendijk, February 21st ,2022 – On Saturday February 19th, 2022, a complete blackout occurred on Bonaire at around 12:04 am.
During the morning hours (11:09) a power failure occurred in several neighborhoods on the island of Bonaire. By 12:04 a Blackout was confirmed. As a result, all neighborhoods on Bonaire were completely cut off from the electricity supply.
During the afternoon hours it was possible for WEB to gradually restore power connections in a number of neighborhoods on Bonaire.
The power outage that led to the “blackout” was due to a product unit failure at CGB (Contour Global Bonaire). CGB and WEB have jointly launched an investigation to determine the cause of the malfunction.
At 16:00 WEB could start the reconnection process after CGB had completed their preliminary investigation and the production units had started up again.
WEB and CGB would like to apologize for the inconvenience this have caused.
