Connection and reconnection
The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has determined the connection rate as of 1st July 2017: a one-time fee that the customer pays to WEB for a new connection to the electricity and drinking water network. As of 1st January 2019, the connection rates are reduced by 34%. This reduction could be achieved through an intensive search for possible cost savings.
The connection rates are:
Drinking water (standard connection up to ½”)
• $1,069.61 for a standard connection up to 25 meters
Electricity (standard connection up to 3×35 Ampere)
• $1,571.01 for a standard connection up to 25 meters
These new rates apply since 1st January 2019 to all requested and not yet realized connections and to new applications. The rates apply per plot of land and are applicable to the standard connections.
Connections that do not fall under the definition of a standard connection are considered projects. For projects, WEB uses an application procedure to calculate the costs for the connection. If an application is not justified from an economic perspective, WEB may decide not to process the application.
For connections at a distance of more than 25 meters from the network, the ACM set an extension rate in 2017. This extension rate expired on 1st January 2019.
For connections with a connection length of more than 25 meters that will be realized from 1st January 2019, the contribution for the customer will be based on actual expected costs.
The reconnection rates for electricity and drinking water are set at $40.00 per reconnection by the ACM from 1st July 2017.
